The development of the Alpha Nutrition Program, has  been a collective effort and has evolved over the past 20 years. Some of Dr. Gislason's co-workers and patients contributed to the development of the Alpha Nutrition Program. Dr. Gislason accumulated experience with over 10 thousand patients applying allergy management principles and diet revision therapy.

He often was the "physician of last resort" for patients who were chronically and not benefiting from medical and alternative treatments that they tried.  His reputation for compassionate care and getting good results brought patients from far and near, seeking his help. His hard-earned knowledge and wisdom has been incorporated into the Alpha Nutrition Program and the books that connect the program to specific diseases that benefit from diet revision.

Historical Note: The Alpha Nutrition Program has emerged from Dr. Gislason’s work on diet revision as a standard therapeutic strategy in Medicine. His first books referred to the “Core Program”. The original Core Program was first published in 1983 and has undergone continuous development since then. Versions of the Core Program were published as Nutritional Therapy in 1989 and Nutritional Therapy Vol. 2 in 1992 by Dr. Gislason. In June 1998, the Alpha Nutrition Program incorporated and replaced the Core Program. The ENFood family of elemental nutrient formulas were first introduced in 1991 and were incorporated into the Alpha Nutrition Series in 1998. ENFood C1 is now Alpha ENF and ENFood PMX or NutraBalance is now Alpha PMX. Alpha Nutrition is a Division of Environmed Research Inc., a private company incorporated in British Columbia, Canada in 1984.
